My name is Grace Connolly, and I am a sophomore at Boston Latin School. I usually take the green line to and from school, and the trip takes me about 35 minutes each way. I have to leave my house at 6:30 in the morning to avoid crowded trains and get to school early, and the only reason I am able to get home so quickly is that I sprint straight from school to the train station in order to catch a train that will not be packed with students. This shaves at least 15 minutes on average off of my commute, as the crowded train takes much longer to reach my stop. But if I have to stay after school, I might have to wait up to 10-15 minutes for a train to arrive, and the trip home can take closer to 45 minutes. The green line train moves so slowly, that I have been able to run and catch a green line train at the MFA station even after missing it at my regular station. Additionally, I take the 39 bus on occasion and have found that it runs very infrequently, and there is no accurate way to track how long I will have to wait for the bus. Both the buses and trains run extremely infrequently whenever there is inclement weather of any kind.
